IDSHNA/USEA FEH West Coast CHAMPIONSHIP

R. Moonrock was named Champion 2 year old Colt/Gelding over the weekend at the IDSHNA/USEA Future Event Horse West Coast Series Championship held at Ram Tap Horse Trials scoring an excellent 78 percent. Its been a great season for our youngster and I am so proud of our boys!

2 Year Old R. Moonrock attended the first West Coast IDSHNA/USEA Future Event Horse Series where Rocky not Only Placed 2nd but also qualified for the West Coast Regional Championships. Rocky scored an overall 76 % a super score for our growthy two year old. We look forwards to attending the West Coast Championships which his daddy already qualified for!

Premium Mare *Glenormiston Amelia

Glenormiston Amelia along with her pasture mate Century Hills Taylor Maide attended the 1st Annual Oldenburg Horse Breeders Show and Performance Test where Amelia was awarded top honors decisively winning the Weser Ems Pony Division Sponsored by Euro-Horseshoeing. Amelia went on to place sixth overall in the GOV MPT and was awarded the title Premium Mare with the Weser Ems. Amelia is the first purebred mare in North America to hold Premium Titles with both the ACPS and the GOV/Weser Ems.

Special Premium Mare CH Taylor Maide

Four Year Old Century Hills Taylor Maide along with her pasture mate Premium Mare Glenormiston Amelia attended the 1st Annual Oldenburg Horse Breeders Show and Performance Test where Taylor was awarded the prestigious title “Special Premium”. Taylor is the first purebred Connemara Pony mare in North America to hold the Title Special Premium with the GOV/Weser Ems. As it was explained to me Taylor now holds the equivalent of “States Premium.” Taylor is in foal to our stallion Wildwych Eclipse for March, 2010.

APPROVED! WESER EMS!

Bright and Early this past Monday Max and I loaded up our girls ACPS Premium Mare *Glenormiston Amelia and ACPS Premium Mare Candidate Century Hills Taylor Maide and attended the German Oldenburg Verbands Breed Inspection. We presented both girls for Weser Ems (German Riding Pony) inspection and both girls were approved with flying colors. I was especially pleased for our senior mare Amelia as she is now working on her eighth Purebred Foal, due March 2010. Interestingly our Taylor Maide is the 2nd Generation from her female family to be approved for Weser Ems/German Riding Pony as her mother the beautiful imported *Eastlands Glendearg is also Weser Ems. Century Hills Taylor Maide is confirmed in foal to our Premium Stallion Wildwych Eclipse* for March 2010.

REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Our Stallion Wildwych Eclipse along with our four year homebred R. Cracker Jack attended the California Dressage Society Regional Championship over the weekend of July 18-19th. This annual Championship competition was held at the fabulous Webb Ranch in Menlo Park, CA. Eclipse qualified to participate last season while competing as a five year old at 1st level. Much to our surprise and delight Eclipse was the ONLY PONY (all 14.1 HH of him) of any breed to qualify and compete at this level, in fact we were the ONLY PONIES to compete in the entire show. My young R. Cracker Jack held up his end taking 3rd and Fourth at Training Level Test 3 and 4--he was pretty much flying solo on his second outing as the extreme heat just about had me under!

A FROZEN “E” BABY!

We had a most interesting request from one of our clients and wanted to share that Eclipse has successfully sired his first frozen embryo! Thats right an equine embryo has been successfully harvested from the mare. Considering how rare the use of ET is in the Connemara Breed, we think its outstanding that Eclipse has been chosen to be the proud poppa of what hopefully will be multiple full siblings. We wish our client every success in this endeavor! Absolutely fascinating!

Summer Moon Horse Trials

Eclipse and Amanda placed 2nd/11 at Summer Moon Horse Trials over the weekend of July 24th. It was a super go for Eclipse and his partner Amanda Volle of Auburn, CA. This is Eclipse third time out at Training Level and placing both 2nd and 3rd on his most recent outings. It was such fun to watch the pair working and we look forwards to their future success with great anticipation!

WCCS 2009

We are both delighted and thrilled by the outstanding success of our ponies at this seasons West Coast Connemara Pony Show. For the sixth consecutive season our young Stallion Wildwych Eclipse* remains undefeated in his age group against all comers both imported and domestic. Perhaps even more exciting is the success of his progeny.

Max’s beautiful Two Year Old Redbuds Moonrock (Wildwych Eclipse x Palladia) won the Partbred Championship in a very strong class of mature ponies any one of which we’d been happy to take home!

Eclipse’s yearling partbred daughter Stellaluna was also this years Shamrock Cup Winner (Yearling Partbred Futurity Winner) as well as the winner of the “Baby Obedience” class! Congratulations to Owner/Breeder Maurya Faulkner. This is the second Shamrock Cup winner sired by Eclipse in as many years!

Our young purebreds also made a very strong showing with our yearling Purebred Redbud’s Celtic Tiger (Wildwych Eclipse x Glenormiston Amelia) winning his class as well as Kat Ongs Featherstone Nightsong (Wildwych Eclipse x Coastal Tully Roisin) winning hers. Congratulations to Owner Breeder Kat Ong of Featherstone Connemaras!

We also had great fun competing in the Open Dressage Show held in Conjunction with our Breed Show. Eclipse won his second level test and also received his first qualifying score at 2nd Test Four. We also had great fun with our four year olds Century Hills Taylor Maide and Redbuds Cracker Jack. Both Ponies received “8‘s” for gaits, scoring 67.2% at training level test four.

Most exciting however is that our Taylor Maide passed her breed inspection with exceptionally high marks making her a Premium Mare Candidate. Taylor also placed third in perhaps the best mares class we’ve ever seen, as well as winning the class for broodmares! Well done Taylor Maide.

Three Ponies, Three Successful Outings

It was a spectacular weekend for three of our ponies, all three having met their training goals in one fell swoop. First up I had my beautiful four year old homebred/home trained Redbuds Cracker Jack (*Glenormiston Billies Bay x Premium Mare *Glenormiston Amelia) out for his first really big outing of the season. Our goal for Jack was just to get out and see the sights and work in a group as well as on his own. He was PERFECT and I could not have asked for a more enjoyable outing. Oh, and I forgot my vest and had to wear Max’s which was incredibly annoying as it kept bumping the back of my helmut----grrrrr!

Next up was our beautiful four year old Purebred Mare Century Hills Taylor Maide (ES Maplehurst Micheal MacDaire x *Eastlands Glendearg). Taylors goal was very simple: Get Wet and Like It. With a little patience and encouragement and a very calm lead from Lucky Teddy---Taylor is now successfully coursing the “baby” water at EA Horse Park. Good Pony!

CENTURY HILLS TAYLOR MAIDE

Last but never least, our beautiful Premium Performance Stallion Wildwych Eclipse* had a HUGELY successful weekend schooling the Training/Preliminary Cross Country Course. The ditch issue has been addressed and it looks like we’ve got our little man back on the road to success. Both Max and Jackie were very pleased with how well Eclipse’s jumping training is progressing. Eclipse is schooling primarily Training Level but has no issue jumping the occasional Preliminary Fence (3.6 x 4‘wide!). Next Up a Bit of Dressage!! So Stay Tuned!
